SleepCoach.ai ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

We collect the following data when you use SleepCoach.ai:

• Account data: email address (stored securely via Supabase; no password — we use one-time login codes)
• Sleep logs: bedtime, wake time, sleep duration, sleep quality, and notes you enter manually
• Apple Health data (iOS only, with your explicit permission): sleep sessions, heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), blood oxygen (SpO₂), respiratory rate, body temperature (wrist), workout activity, and menstrual flow. This data is read-only — we never write to Apple Health. It is used solely to generate your sleep score and personalised coaching insights and is not shared with third parties.
• Profile settings: chronotype, wake schedule, biological sex, HRT start date and type (if entered), location (city only, for sunrise and weather)
• Evening check-in data: stress level, exercise, dinner timing, alcohol intake (entered voluntarily)
• Usage data: app interactions, used to improve the service

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide personalised sleep coaching and insights
• To calculate your sleep score, energy forecast, and sleep debt
• To send transactional emails (account-related, re-engagement reminders)
• To improve the application

We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted in the EU. Sleep log data is also cached locally on your device (localStorage) for offline access.

4. Third-Party Services

• Paddle – payment processing. Paddle acts as Merchant of Record and handles billing data independently.
• Supabase – database and authentication (EU-hosted).
• Resend – transactional email delivery.
• Apple HealthKit – on iOS, health data is read from HealthKit with your explicit permission. Apple's own privacy rules govern data within HealthKit; we only access data you authorise.
• Open-Meteo – anonymous weather lookups using your city coordinates. No personal data is transmitted.
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim – anonymous reverse geocoding to convert GPS coordinates to a city name. No personal data is stored.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Export your data in a portable format

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently removed within 30 days.

7. Cookies

SleepCoach.ai uses localStorage to store your settings and sleep data locally. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

SleepCoach.ai is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notice.
